Continuing Education - earn CEU's at the ELC
If you're looking for a fun and convenient way to broaden your knowledge around environmental issues, and earn CEU's, the Environmental Learning Center at Clackamas Community College offers short-courses designed to give professionals hands-on experience while learning from the experts.
Sitting in one of our rustic, yet comfortable classrooms, you'll find yourself in the middle of our recently restored riverine wetland.

Short-course topics will include areas related to Stormwater Management, Wetland/River Restoration and Ecology, as well as others.
Community Education at the ELC
Each term we will be offering workshops that will explore a number of topics, such as stress reduction, arts & crafts, wildlife, bushcraft, star parties and more.

Wildlife-Friendly Gardening: Creating a Habitat at Home, 0 credits

Create wildlife-friendly spaces in your own yard or community area! Learn to incorporate native plants and wildlife habitat components; attract beneficial insects and pollinators; use naturescaping design tips; and gain recognition for sustainable gardening practices through local certification programs. Indoor and outdoor activities involved - please dress for the weather.

Want to combine your creativity with your love of nature? Through discussion and demonstrations, master plein air painter, Leland John, will prepare you to take your painting outdoors! You will learn all the fundamentals, including: techniques, equipment, esthetic concerns and dealing with the elements (rain, snow and even wild animals!). Any level of student is welcome.

Looking for a way to rejuvenate your inner spirit? Connection with nature through creative movement/walking meditation may be the ticket. Sacred dance teacher, Jane Rickenbaugh, will guide you using inspiration from the beauty of the newly restored ELC - wandering among its singing creeks, gardens, trails and wildlife. Will be held indoors if the weather permits.
Drawing Treasures in Nature, 0 credits

Participants will explore and observe the nuances of the environment that are often overlooked, and then select from these hidden treasures to create a work of art focused on composition design, accurate depiction of shapes and realistic shading. Individual instruction will be given. All levels welcome. Please bring colored pencils, sketch paper and lunch.
