Artists exhibit in Wilsonville
WILSONVILLE – Clackamas Community College (CCC) will host the work of Becky Land and J.F. “Juliet” Warren through Dec. 8 on its Wilsonville campus,
A native Oregonian, Land has a deep appreciation for the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest. Her work is representational and focuses on still-life and landscape paintings. She uses traditional painting methods in her realistic work. Land’s ongoing challenge as an artist is to capture the essence of a subject without being too literal.
Land studied painting technique and theory informally and recently focused on painting as a serious pursuit. She began working with watercolors eight years ago and only recently took up oil painting. She particularly enjoys the sculptural quality of oil paint and is easily immersed in the painting process.
Warren’s introduction to art came through Betty White's book, “Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain.” After working through the exercises, Warren realized she had a talent for art.
Using mainly pastels, inks and watercolors, Warren paints what she observes, attempting to capture their essence. She works to find ways to effectively employ colors, shapes and compositions that capture and share the beauty of her experiences.
The CCC Wilsonville campus gallery is open Monday-Friday, 7 a.m.-5 p.m., and is located at 29353 SW Town Center Loop East, Wilsonville. The exhibition is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Joyce Gabriel at firstname.lastname@example.org or 503-594-0950.
