CCC goes back to the future
OREGON CITY – Clackamas Community College will celebrate its future with a time capsule dedication ceremony on Friday, Sept. 22, at noon in the Chuck Clemans Sculpture Garden on the Oregon City campus, 19600 Molalla Ave.
The community is invited to be part of this moment in history. Each department at the college submitted items for the capsule that captures our current events, activities and environment, such as our bond projects, and pending change in leadership. Contributions to the time capsule will be on display for guests to peruse.
The time capsule is a functional art piece – a bench designed and created by artist Dave Haslett. Nancy Hungerford, a longtime donor and supporter of CCC, funded the creation of the sculpture.
The design of the time capsule pays tribute to the original time capsules that were sealed in 1991. These capsules were encased in six benches in the college’s quad and were opened as part of the college’s 50th anniversary in 2016. The new capsule will be opened on the college’s 75th anniversary in 2041.
